"Lorene Barnes was born May 22, 1907, in Savannah and died July 19, 1987, in a St Joseph hospital.

She was the daughter of the late William Beattie and the former Mary Ann Barbee. Mrs. Barnes married Claude Clarence Barnes on Aug. 23, 1928, in Troy, Kan. He survives of the home. She had resided most of her life in Savannah. Mrs. Barnes was a member of St John's United Church of Christ, Amazonia.

Other survivors, besides her husband, include three daughters, Betty Swartz of St Joseph, Connie Miller of Kansas City and Judy Miller of Savannah; a sister, Jennie Kerns of Maitland; a brother, Paulette Beattie of Savannah; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services were July 21, 1987, in Breit & Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Savannah with Dr. E. L. Dierking officiating. Interment was in the Savannah Cemetery." Savannah Reporter and Andrew County Democrat (Savannah, Missouri), July 23, 1987
