Gene Byron McCalmont, Age 67, of Argyle, Texas passed away on Wednesday January 8, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born February 26, 1946, in Austin, Texas, the son of the late Gene and Ida McCalmont.

Survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Beverly Hammond McCalmont, two Children John (Lucia) McCalmont and Kim McCalmont both from Heath, Texas, two Grandchildren Elizabeth and Amelia and Brother Ralph (Susan) of Oklahoma City, OK, and several nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Gene started several successful businesses including BERMAC communications. He was an award winning writer for Ride Texas Magazine. He enjoyed rebuilding classic cars and motorcycles, astronomy, ham radio (W5DDW) and adventures on the open road. Gene loved his family more than anything and spending time with them is what he loved most in life. He was a wonderful Husband, Father, Brother and Grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased in death by his brother, Munroe McCalmont.

A time of gathering with family and friends will be held on January 19th at his home in Argyle. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one's favorite charity.
