Walter Jefferson ""W.J."" Grimes, age 91, a native of Bothwell, MS and long time resident of Saraland, died on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013. Mr. Grimes served in the U.S. Army, in the Philippines, during WWII. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 31 years, as a postal clerk and mail handler. After retiring from he postal service he worked for Geigy Chemical Co. in McIntosh for six years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Mamie Grimes, his beloved wife, Sylvia Cole Grimes, a brother, Roy Douglas Grimes, and a sister, Annie Lois Bunn. He is survived by three nieces, Bobbie Beech Davis, Nettie Beech Phillips, and Betty Beech Richmond, one nephew, Douglas Clayton Beech, numerous grandnieces, grandnephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, from Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home, from 12:00 until 1:00 pm. Graveside services will follow at 1:00. Interment will be in Valhalla Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to : Wounded Warrior Foundation P.O.
