Raymond R. Ball, 83, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, January 10, 2014 at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls.
He was born December 25, 1930, in Lehigh, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Bessie (McClelland) Ball. He married Darlene Swanson April 4, 1952 in Boxholm, Iowa. She died May 14, 2010.
Mr. Ball received both his Bachelor of Arts degree in secondary education and his Master of Arts degree in school administration from the University of Northern Iowa and attended the University of Iowa for Doctorate Studies. He was a social studies instructor at Perry High School for five years, became principal of the elementary and junior high at Orange Township and later principal at Bunger Middle School, both in the Waterloo Community School District. He retired in May of 1987.
Survived by: his son, Randy (Lauren) Ball of Glen Ellyn, IL; daughter, Rhonda (David) Bottke of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren, Benjamin Bottke, Brooke (Kalen) Kolpek, and Brian (Summer) Bottke, all of Cedar Falls, and Katherine and Allison Ball, both of Glen Ellyn, IL; and two great grandchildren, Noah Bottke and Bella Kolpek, both of Cedar Falls.
Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 17, 2014 at Heartland Vineyard Church in Cedar Falls, with interment in the West Lawn Cemetery, Lehigh. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Richardson Funeral Service in Cedar Falls and also one hour prior to the services at the church.
