Memorials may be made to Adventure Christian Community for the Heart Shot Ministry.
David Lee Bendickson was born in 1944 to Carroll and Edna Bendickson in Crookston, Minn. On Aug. 19, 1965, he was united in marriage to Martha "Marty" Kinnick in Indianapolis. He began his pastoral ministry in Grand Island, Neb., serving as the minister of the Stolley Park Church of Christ from 1983–1999. They moved to Davenport when David became the minister of the Central Church of Christ. Although he retired from pastoral ministry in 2008, he remained active in ministry until his Lord called him home.
He enjoyed working with his wife, Marty, selling real estate for Mel Foster Co. An avid outdoorsman, David enjoyed hunting, particularly bow hunting. This interest led him to teach kids about archery, ultimately forming Heart Shot, an active archery ministry at Adventure Christian Community.
Survivors include his wife, Marty of Davenport; daughters, Christy (Alan) Perkins, Syracuse, N.Y., and Robin (Trent) Baker, Lincoln, Neb.; son, Troy (Tammy) Bendickson, Atlanta; 12 grandchildren, Nathan and Madison Perkins, Micah, Lydia, Caleb and Levi Baker, and Kaitlyn, Lily, Charity, Tori, Oliver and Archer Bendickson; his mother, Edna Bendickson, Crookston, Minn.; two sisters, Sandy Bendickson, Crookston, and Kay (Jeff) Arthur, Bellevue, Neb.; and nieces, nephews and numerous special friends, including his faithful "friend," Tucker.
