Charles William Adams, 89, a longtime resident of Fredonia, Kansas, died Friday, January 10, 2014 at his home. He was born February 29, 1924 in Wilson County, Kansas, the son of Charles Herbert and Sarah (McGaugh) Adams. Charles was a 1943 graduate of Coyville High School. He served in the United States Army Air Force 1942-1944 and received European/African Theater Service Honors. He was involved in the One Thousand Plane Raid over Germany. Charles was employed by General Portland/Lafarge Corporation as an electrician and electronics technician, retiring after 42 years.

In 1946, Charles became a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Fredonia. He served on the Church Board of Deacons for 25 years.

On October 8, 1949, in the church parsonage, he was united in marriage to Julia Manning. He and Julia made their home in Fredonia and to this union three children were born. Julia preceded Charles in death March 5, 2008.

Charles' survivors include: Two daughters, One son, siblings, Eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by parents, Charles and Sarah Adams, one brother, Lloyd Adams, and one sister, Thelma Miller.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, January 17, 2014 at the First Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in the Fredonia City Cemetery.
