Mr. Furman C Ard died as a result of an accident when he was hit by the rear end of a bus on U.S 1.
Mr. Ard was survived by his wife, Mrs. Lilly Gainey Ard, two sons, Furman and Kenneth, and two daughters, Vernice and Johnnie.
The funeral was held on Sunday, July 9, 1944 at the Pee Dee Baptist Church, Rockingham, with Reverend Roy Arnette officiating.
Mr. Ard was a brickmason for many years, and he was well known in Rockingham.
