WILL ROUNDTREE FATALLY INJURED
STRUCK BY TRUCK WHILE WALKING ON THE HIGHWAY
Tragedy which brought sorrow to a family of East Liberty vicinity, occurred Wednesday night resulting in the death of William Roundtree, Saturday morning.
Mr. Roundtree had been to Glenwood and was returning home at 1 p.m. walking on the right hand side of the road on Highway 34 east of Glenwood near Carter fruit stand. A truck driver by Basil Clay, also coming from the west, met another truck and because of the lights, Clay was unable to see the pedestrian in time to avoid striking him.
The injured man was rushed to the Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs but because of a severe head injury he never regained consciousness and passed away Saturday morning.
The family moved about a year ago to the B. R. Knight tenant house near Marlow Campbell home.
Mrs. Roundtree and her eight children have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.
Funeral services were held at the East Liberty Church Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev. Geo All. Music was furnished by Arch Hafnes and Mrs. W. H. Maddocks, accompanied by Mrs. R. K. Henderson. Interment was in the East Liberty Cemetery.
