Sharlot Hall Museum spells her name: Cesenea "Cenzie" Holzschu Brecht, and says she "was born on November 1, 1856, in Ulm, Germany, and arrived in Prescott with her sister, Mrs. C. A. Luke, on May 22, 1874".
According to her death certificate, her parents were John George and Gertrude Holzshuh.
She married Frederick Gustav Brecht, on February 27, 1877, in her sister's home. Frederick was a blacksmith who was a carriage maker. Cenzie and Frederick never had children. She died at the age of 95, she was cremated, and her remains interred in the Greenwood crematory.

Cenzie is commemorated in the Territorial Women's Memorial Rose Garden in Prescott, Arizona.
