Mildred Bean Munday, 86, of the Baton community passed away Thursday, January 9, 2014 at College Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Munday was born in Caldwell County to the late Bascom Bean and Lettie Kaylor Bean. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ward G. Munday; a brother, Perry "Buck" Bean; two sisters, Lucille Beane and Hazel Brown and a great grandson, Timothy Stedman. She was a retiree of Alba Waldensian with 37 years of service and was a long time member of Mountain Grove Baptist Church. She loved to cook and was a great cook and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Jim Munday and wife Mary of Granite Falls, and Dale Munday and wife Hilda of Issaquah, Washington; her daughter, Delores M. Robbins and husband Clifford of Granite Falls; a brother, Jack Bean of Clover, SC; a sister, Bennie Sue Rector of Rutherford College; five grandchildren, Michael Todd Robbins, Sharon Stedman, Jason Robbins, Brian Munday and Anna English, and nine great grandsons. The funeral service was held at Mountain Grove Baptist church at 3:00 p.m. with Dr. Clifton Black and Reverend Jeff Burkhimer officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Bill Henderson, Stacy Setzer, Jeffrey Setzer, Jackie Bean, Junior Rector and Bryson Annas. Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
