Born in Tatnuck, MA on November 3, 1898, Clarkson was the son of Charles H. and Ellen Lincoln Clarkson and spent most of his life in Worcester, MA. He attended Northeast University there and received a Master's degree.
Clarkson retired as a teacher at the Boys Trade School in 1960, having taught there for more than 35 years.
Clarkson was married to Alice Goyette, who died in 1964. In October 1967 he married Margaret "Ray" Bouldin they and made their home in Eureka, Kansas at that time. Clarkson was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Morning Star Lodge, A.F. & A.M., and the Valley of Worcester Consistory.
Clarkson was survived by his wife, Margaret, of the home; and a step daughter, Virginia Bouldin Lusinsky, Topsfield, MA. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
A memorial service was held at the First United Methodist Church on Friday morning, with the Rev. Phyllis Garrett officiating.
Interment was in Hope Cemetery in Worcester, MA.
