Doris was a native of Jackson County, Mississippi and the spouse of Bueron O. Bankester (1914-1988), a native of Alabama. Mrs. Bankester was a lifelong resident of Biloxi and was survived by Jerry Bankester, a son; three daughters: Peggy B. LeBatard; Nancy B. Westfall and Susie B. Puglise; and Don Dunakey, a foster son, all of Biloxi; Donald Holland, a brother at OceanSprings; two sisters, Mrs. Walter 'Gladys' D'Orville and Edna Mae Gatlin, both of Biloxi; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home of Biloxi directed the funeral of Mrs. Bankester. After her service at Epworth United Methodist Church internment followed in the Biloxi Cemetery.
