Early Life: Joy was born September 17, 1927, in Rigby, Idaho, to George Sylvester Chapman and Nellie Dowdle Chapman. Joy was known as a sweet, pleasant child who lived up to her name.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: Following her graduation from Utah State University with a BS degree in home economics, Joy married Morris Dean Wilding on June 6, 1951, in the Salt Lake Temple. A devoted wife and mother, Joy and Dean lived in Idaho, Utah, Illinois and Guam. She was an example of someone who lived her life as a comforting and supportive presence for her family and friends. She took delight in living a Christ-centered life. While in Guam, Joy established a superior day care center. She served in many callings as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including: Relief Society president three times, teaching seminary many times and serving missions to New Zealand and San Diego with her husband. Loa Joy Chapman Wilding, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully of natural causes on January 8, 2014, at her home in Lindon, Utah.
Survived By: Her husband, Dean; her son, John, of Pleasant Grove; a daughter, Loa, of Lindon; son, Howard, of Orem; daughter, Becky, of Pleasant Grove; daughter, Jennifer, of Paradise, Utah; and son, David, of Cedar Hills; her sister, Gwen; 41 grandchildren and 26 great- grandchildren.
