Roy Edgar Schwalm

Services for Roy Edgar Schwalm, 88, rural Baldwin, will be at 11 am Thursday at the Worden United Methodist Church in southwest Doughlas County. Burial will follow in Worden Cemetery.

Mr. Schwalm died Monday, October 21, 1991 at his home. He was born October 3, 1903 on a farm near Clarksdale, Missouri, the son of John and Rosetta Schreiber Schwalm. When he was 3 his family moved from Missouri to a farm southeast of Lawrence where they lived for three years. They later moved to the current family farm west of Baldwin in the Worden community where he spent the remainder of his life.

He attended Union Rural School in District 34 in southwest Douglas County, He was a lifelong farmer and stockman and farmed all his life in the Worden area. He raised purebred Percheron horses on his farm for many years. He attended the Worden United Methodist Church and was a former school board member of the Rural School District 34.

He married Winona Esther Breithaupt on March 29, 1933 in Leonardville. She died January 22, 1989.

survivors include three sons: Roy Edgar, Jr. of Littleton, Colorado; John T. of rural Baldwin and Dr. Irvin of Hiawatha; a brother, Lester Schwalm of Baldwin; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
