He was born October 11, 1957 in Lubbock to Donald and Carol Payne. Mike was a 1976 graduate of Monterey High School. He was an Electronic Technician for South Plains Communications. Mike enjoyed music and loved all types of animals, always picking up strays.
Survivors include his parents, Don and Carol Payne of Lubbock; brother, Jim Payne and his wife Sheryl of New Braunfels, TX; niece, Cristina Wertman of Lubbock; nephew, Derek Payne of Austin; and great-nephew Aiden Wertman of Lubbock.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 3:00 pm in Resthaven Memorial Park.
