Visitation will be held from 11:00 to 12:45 on Thursday, November 29, 2007 at Hems Brothers Mortuary in El Centro, with a graveside service to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, also in El Centro for Mary Ruth (Riggs) Caldwell.
She was born in the Imperial Valley County Hospital on July 21, 1939. She attended Holtville schools where she met her lifetime love and husband George Caldwell. They married in 1957 and recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. Ruth was known for her crocheting, wonderful pies and her cooking. She loved to bake and work in her garden. She also loved being a stay at home mom and grandma.
Her father and mother, Arlie and Verona, sisters, Alice and Jean and her brother Arlie preceded her in death.
Mary is survived by her husband, George; her children, Bill and Diane Caldwell of El Centro, Roy Caldwell, Chris and Heather Caldwell of Imperial, Anthony and Susan Caldwell of Phoenix, AZ and Pat and Lori O'Connell of Brawley; siblings, Paul and Ruby Riggs of Salinas, CA, Jimmy Riggs of Holtville and Ginger Riggs of Yuma, AZ, nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary Ruth was very proud of her 13 grandchildren, Jenn and Chaston Blum, Brandon, Karrah, Shane, Taylor, Jocey, Michael, Cami, Megan, Cassie, Ryan, Sean and Shannon.
