Stroke Victim
Arthur A. Barney, 1106 Oak Street, died at 8 am Sunday in Billings Memorial hospital, Chicago, from effects of a stroke. He had been in ill health for the last two years.
The decedent was born in Lake county, Ind., on Feb. 14, 1882, son of Charles and Marguerite Barney. The major portion of his life was spent in Wheeler and vicinity. For 25 years he conducted a general store business in Wheeler, retiring several years ago because of ill health.
On August 20, 1906, he was united in marriage in Valparaiso to Goldie Taylor, of Wheeler. Surviving besides the widow are two children. Mrs. Faye Huff, of Valparaiso and Mrs. Laura Tatlock, of Garyton, one brother, C. M. Barney, of Battle Creek, Mich., one sister, Mrs. Eva Lace of Battle Creek, Mich., and two grandchildren, Kathleen Tatlock of Garyton and Donna Faye Huff of Valparaiso.
Memorial services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday at the Bartholomew chapel on Washington Street, with services in charge of Rev. Edward W. Strecker, of this city. Burial will be in McCool Cemetery.
