She was instrumental in organizing Alzheimer's and Grief Support Groups in both the First United Methodist Church of Trinity and Huntsville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alton and Faye DeShazo LaRoe, her husband, Sterling Underwood, and sisters, Billie Turner and Natalie Russell.
