Chester Lafayette Perdue
DELMAR -- Chester Lafayette Perdue, 85, of Delmar died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005, at Salisbury Center: Genesis ElderCare in Salisbury. Born in Parsonsburg, he was the son of the late J. Lafayette and Florence Jones Perdue. Mr. Perdue retired in 1978 from E.I. DuPont in Seaford after 33 1/2 years. He also was a farmer and poultry grower in Parsonsburg. He enjoyed hunting and country music. He is survived by a daughter, Rita Perdue-Dayton of Seaford; two sons, Gerald Perdue of Pittsville and Russell Perdue of Laurel; a sister, Dorothy Perdue Gravenor of Parsonsburg; a brother, Vernon Perdue of Laurel; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Virgil Perdue, and sisters, Mildred Perdue Jones, Flossie Perdue Hancock, Viola Layfield and Lillian Perdue Hughes. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Holloway Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Pastor Woody Wilson and the Rev. Oren Perdue will officiate. Interment will be in Jerusalem United Methodist Cemetery in Parsonsburg. Contributions may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 213 W. Main St., Suite 205, Salisbury, Md. 21801. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home at 501 Snow Hill Road in Salisbury.
