Thomas Polk Paysinger was born in Tennessee and died in Giles County, TN. He was the second child of 13, born to Thomas Alexander Paysinger and Mary Adeline McRee. He m1) Fredonia E. Morell on 22 Dec 1864. Fredonia was the daughter of Jacob Baum Gardner Morell and Eleanor Phillips Phelps. Their children include Mary E. "Mollie", Hugh Emmett, and Walter Hattie "Chuck" Paysinger.

Thomas served his country during the War Between the States. He was mustered in service in August of 1861 at Kossuth, Mississippi. He was only 17 at the time. He served as a Private in Captain F. B. Allen's Company, 2nd Reg., 1st Brigade of Mississippi Volunteers. He was captured on February 16, 1862, and sent to Fort Donnelson. After the war, Thomas returned to the Tennessee Valley and married Fredonia E. Morrell on December 22, 1864. Thomas and Fredonia had three children Fredonia died on November 30, 1870, in Tennessee. She was buried in the Ewing Cemetery in Lincoln County, Tennessee. On January 6, 1876 in Madison County, Alabama Thomas married Frances Virginia Browning, daughter of Robert Jonothan and Frances (Biles) Browning. Thomas and Frances also had at least four children, Charles "Charlie, Margaret Pearl "Maggie" Thomas B., and an infant son. He died on April 5, 1907, in Giles County, Tennessee and was buried in the Bethany Cemetery in Giles County. Frances survived Thomas.
