In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard O. Grose Sr.; two brothers, Sam Tawney and Arnold Tawney; and a sister, Wilda Anderson.
She is survived by three daughters, Cindy Richards of Portsmouth, Tammy Scowden of Wheelersburg and Carolyn Sue (Ron) Goforth of St. Louis, Missouri; two sons, Richard O. Grose Jr. of Portsmouth and Benjamin Grose of Wheelersburg; nine grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Garrett, Hannah, Greg, Becky, Beth, Gabby and Katie; six great-grandchildren, Ryan, Leah, Nick, Brandon, Bryson and Melina; two great-great-grandchildren, Kyleigh and Briggs; a brother, Edward Tawney of Roane County, West Virginia; and a sister, Mary Lou Cobb of South Carolina.
Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at F.C. Daehler Mortuary Company in Portsmouth. Burial will be in Memorial Burial Park. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Strength was with her through her entire life and was with her when she passed with her final words, "I am not afraid".
