MONTGOMERY CENTER – Carlton Roger Barnes, age 82, passed away Sunday evening, January 5, 2014 at the Redstone Villa Nursing Home in St. Albans.

Carlton was born December 2, 1931 in Montgomery the son of the late Clayton Barnes Sr. & Lona (Kennett) Barnes.

Carlton was a lifelong resident of Montgomery Center where he worked on the family farm for many years. Along with farming, Carlton loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and cutting firewood. He was a member of the Lincoln Lodge F&AM #78 and had received his 50 year pin.

He is survived by a sister, Audrey LaFlame and her companion Stuart Peck of Enosburg Falls; 2 brothers, Clayton Barnes Jr of Georgia & Robert Barnes Sr. and his companion Myrna Flanagan of Highgate; his nieces and nephews, Maryellen Comtois and her husband Maurice; Jeffrey Barnes and his wife Jessica, Beverly Mayotte, Robert Barnes Jr. and his wife Cindy, Judy Picininni, and William Barnes and his wife Crystal; many great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with Pastor Patrick Hoadley officiating.

Interment will be this spring in the Montgomery Center Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the hour of the funeral.
