Etta Hannah [aka Hannah Etta] was the daughter of Jacob and Lydia (Smith) Guire. She married Alfred Dennis Cantonwine in December of 1879 in Chaffee County, Colorado. They had 5 children: Claude R. (m. Margaret Fehling), William O. (m. Ida Burleson), Frederick Earl "Cobb" (m. Essie Guire), Charles I. (single), and Mabel M. (m. Charles F. Matlock).

Alfred Dennis was the son of Jacob & Christena (Dilling) Cantonwine and grandson of Charles & Mary Magdalena (Scholl) Cantonwine.

PIONEER RESIDENT OF COLORADO DIES SATURDAY EVENING
Mrs. Hannah Etta Cantonwine, a resident of Colorado since 1866, died Saturday evening at the Red Cross Hospital after a short illness. Mrs. Cantonwine had made her home at Centerville [CO]. Mrs. Cantonwine was born Dec. 11, 1862, in Decautr [Decatur], Iowa. When but four years old her parents pioneered to Chaffee county. Indians would often visit their home. When they came her parents would put her to bed and frighten the Indians away by telling them she was ill. Mrs. Cantonwine is survived by four children: Claude of California; Cobb [Frederick E.] Cantonwine of Salida and W. O. Cantonwine of Ohio City, and Mrs. Mabel Matlock of Centerville. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Stewart Chapel. The Rev. LeRoy Gemmell of the Presbyterian church will conduct the services. Burial will be at Centerville.
