Rapid City – Viola Pearl Brave, Rapid City, on Saturday, December 28, 2013 passed from this life to her eternal home. She lived a very blessed and happy 93 years, and passed surrounded by her loved ones.
Viola was born in 1920 to Lee and Elizabeth [Bear Old Woman] Farmer. She graduated from boarding school in 1938.
In 1945 she married the love of her life, Mark. Together they had 5 children: Patsy, Marty, Elizabeth, Mary and JoAnne.
She enjoyed sewing her children's clothes and also crocheting in her spare time.Her kind and gentle ways made her a joy to be around.
Survivors include one son: Marty [Liz] Brave of Rapid City; three daughters: Elizabeth [Tom Hudson, deceased] Hudson and Jo Anne [Ted] Muffat both of Rapid City, and Mary One Feather of Omaha, NE; 21 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren and one sister: Velma Burnette of Mission, SD.
Viola was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Mark Brave, daughter: Patsy McKenzie, three brothers and two sisters.
There will be a Rosary and Wake Service at 7:00 pm Thursday, January 2, 2014 at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, 221 Knollwood Drive, Rapid City.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm CST Friday, January 3, 2014 at the Wood Community Center at Wood, SD with Father Ed Witt as celebrant.
Burial will follow at St. Mary's Garden Cemetery at Wood.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, 2700 Jackson Boulevard, Rapid City.
