Arthur M. Vikla, age 92, of Lakeville formerly of New Prague passed away on December 5, 2013. Art graduated from New Prague High School and served his country in the United States Navy where he retired after 27 years. He served during WWII, Korea and at Guantanamo Bay during the Cuban missile crises, he also served during Vietnam. He was a past commander of the New Prague American Legion Post. Art is preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Emily Vikla; daughter-in-law, Linda Vikla; grandsons, Timothy, and Jonathan Vikla; siblings, Martha Vikla, George Vikla, and Dorothy Bluel. Survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Elizabeth ‘Betty'; sons, Marvin (Mary), Terrance (Teresa), and Jerome (Theresa) Vikla; grandchildren, Beth Vikla, Ashley (Josh) Michael, Brooke, Stephen (Jenna) and Lauren Vikla; great-grandson, Uriah Michael. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 AM Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 4030 Pilot Knob Rd., Eagan, MN with visitation 4-8 PM Monday, (12/9) at White Funeral Home (952-469-2723), 20134 Kenwood Tr., Lakeville, MN and 1 hr. prior to Mass at church. Interment, Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
