Funeral rites for Edward J. Schmidt, 66, of 639 Lois, were held Saturday in the Notre Dame Catholic Church with Rev. Lawrence Walsh officiating. Interment was in the Garden of Memories directed by the Kerrville Funeral Home. He died Jan. 3 in the Kerrville State hospital. He was born in El Campo Oct. 2, 1907 and had lived here 26 years. He and his wife operated the Del Norte Restaurant for 10 years. Before moving here, he played the violin at the first San Antonio Symphony Orchestra and had taught violin at the Conway Conservatory of Music in Corpus Christi. His survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. J. Brown of San Antonio and Mrs. Dan Denson of Montana; his parents, one sister, one brother, Willie Schmidt of Boerne and five grandchildren.
