Evelyn was born to the late Charlie and Lillie Leona Thompson on December 24, 1920 in Fisk, Texas. She attended school in Coleman, Texas where she graduated from Coleman High School. She worked at Camp Barkley during WWII, then for Coleman County Clerk's Office for many years. Evelyn moved to Abilene in the late 1950's where she worked for Abilene Savings as a legal secretary until she retired.
Survivors include one sister, Marvella Craig and her husband Billy Mack of Abilene; one brother, Virgil Thompson and his wife Geneva of Lubbock; nieces, Carolyn Craig Bevills of Abilene, Carla Craig Holland of Abilene, Lillian Smith of Alabama, Leticia Bevills McJimsy of Snyder; one nephew, Johnny Bevills of Abilene; and several other nieces and nephews.
