Mr. Abernathy was born February 8, 1957 in Habersham County to the Ethel Shelnut Abernathy and the late Sherman Abernathy. He was employed by Talon and Scovill and was of the Holiness Faith. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward S. Abernathy and David Abernathy.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Kim London, Cleveland; mother, Ethel Abernathy, Cleveland; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Jackie Crane, Cleveland; Peggy Abernathy and Don Hadaway, Clarkesville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Mae Abernathy, Alto, Cecil and Sue Abernathy, Murrayville; Mitchel and Rita Abernathy, Cleveland; brother, Gary Abernathy, Cleveland; grandchildren, Lucian and Legend London; many special nieces, nephews, family and friends also survive.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Sunday, January 5, 2014 from the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Chris Anderson, the Rev. Robert Abernathy and the Rev. Gary Heffner will officiate. Interment will follow at Zion Interdenominational Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
