Our Most Heavenly Father called Samuel Lee Parker, Sr. home on December 31, 2013, after a battle with spinal cancer(?'s). Sam was 74 years young.

He was born on May 7, 1939, in Bedford, Virginia, to the late Mr. Walter and Mrs. Ada Morgan Parker. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister,Elsie Parker Lowry, one brother Walter Parker,Jr., one son, Elliott Parker, two great-grandchildren, Taniya Jones and Markell Penn, and his wife, Irene Parker.

Sam was educated in the Bedford Country Public Schools, leaving school early to support his family. He was a hard-working employee of the Gunnoe Sausage Company for over 20 years. Sam was the only employee who was willing to slaughter the hogs- when no one else would.

He loved to attend church every Sunday. He loved gospel music, especially Mahalia Jackson. He was also into automobiles- he prized his "56 Chevy! He loved talking to and checking up on his family.

He is survived by his sister Katherine Brown, of Bedford, Va;his first wife, Hattie Seaborne, of Richmond,Va; his daughter and son in law,Donna Parker-Thomas and Randolph Thomas,Sr., of Ruther Glen, Va; three sons, Samuel Parker,Jr. of Richmond,Va, and Michael Parker and Mark Parker, both of Chesterfield, Va; two daughters in law; five grandchildren, Jermaine Parker, Tinisha Parker, Jamel Parker, Tamyra Parker, and Marquetta Tunstall; eleven great grandchildren Robert Gamable,Jr., Reniya Jones, Kamia Williams, Damari Penn, Makayla Jones, Devonte Parker, Marshaun Parker, Adrian Tunstall, Jashara Parker, London Jones, and Jayden Tunstall, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones.
