Juanita Alvarez, 74 years, of Temperance, MI and formerly of Erie, MI passed away Thursday November 21, 2010 in Hospice of NW Ohio in Toledo.
The daughter of Macedonia and Elina (Bustillos) Molina, she was born November 22, 1935, in Harlingen, TX. She married Jose Alvarez Sr. in Mississippi, AR in 1955.
Juanita was a member of Lewis Avenue Baptist Church, and a housewife and mother of 10. She had 5 daughters, Margaret (Jesse) Amaya, Elana (Donald) Jackson, Gloria Alvarez, Rosamaria (Al) Wehner, Sylvia (Brant) Bastian; and 5 sons, Jose Alvarez, Jr., Juan Alvarez, Philip Alvarez, Antonio Alvarez, and Jesus Alvarez. Mrs. Alvarez had 21 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She also had 6 brothers, Marcos, Macedonio Jr., Gregory, Fermon, Andrew, and Joe; 9 sisters, Gloria, Martha, Maria Louisa, Bercie, Carmen, Thomasa, Rosa, Jesusa, and Lupe; and also many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; a sister; 3 brothers; her son Juan; and 3 nephews.
Family and friends may visit Sunday from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the Bedford Funeral Chapel, 8300 Lewis Avenue, Temperance, MI. The funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in Lewis Avenue Baptist Church, where she will lie in state after 9 a.m., officiated by Pastor Jim Morrissey. Interment will be in St. Joseph?s Cemetery, Erie, MI.
