Jeanne Mumma of 744 West Main St., Mount Joy, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, January 2, 2014. She was 88. Born in Lawn, PA on December 2, 1925 to the late Sherk and Maude Stoner, she moved to Mount Joy in 1945 when she married her husband, Adin H. Mumma, who survives her. They owned and operated Mumma's Hardware Store from 1945 until 1966. After the business was sold, she worked at Donegal Industries and Hesteco. She was a gifted seamstress and often sewed dresses for her daughters and items for the needy.

Deeply committed to the welfare of children, she hosted Fresh Air children in her home from 1948 until 1973 and served as a Fresh Air Fund regional director for many years.

She was a member of Cross Roads Brethren in Christ Church. Over the years, she was active in her church and served in women's ministries as well as taught Sunday School. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and someone who continually opened her home to those in need.

She is also survived by four children: Carole A., wife of Ron Maley of Landisville; A. David, husband of Jade Yang of Palmyra; Heather J., wife of Dr. Jeffrey Harner of York and Melody A., wife of Richard Mountsier of Harrisburg. Additionally, she is survived by a sister, Loretta Walmer of Lebanon, PA; a brother, Glenn Stoner of Palmyra, PA; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
