Glen Edward “Jack” Akins, age 62, of Peel, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at his home near Peel.

Jack was born in Harrison, Arkansas on October 25, 1950. He was the son of the late Bonnis and Ruby (Wilkerson) Akins. Before his health failed Jack worked for the Arkansas Highway Transportation Department as an equipment operator; he was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Harrison. He also served in the Army Reserves, and was a member of the Pyatt Pirates 1968 State Basketball championship team and was the Most Valuable Player that year in the Class B State Championship Tournament. Jack loved horses, hunting and was a basketball “fanatic”. But one of his most favorite things to do was spend time with his grandkids.

Jack married the former Debra Creamer on June 27, 1975.

Jack is survived by his wife, Debra, of Peel, Arkansas; Three daughters: Tawnya Hutcheson of Yellville, Arkansas; Rhonda Mahler and her husband, Don, of Harrison, Arkansas; Jacquelyn Lively and her husband, Ty, of Omaha, Arkansas;
One brother: Bill Akins of Harrison, Arkansas; and Four grandchildren: Derek “Bub” Hutcheson, Dylan “Littleman” Hutcheson, Dawson “Dumplin” Lively, Delsie “Princess Doodle” Lively.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant son, Joshua Glen Akins.

Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 pm Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville.

Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Friday, April 5, 2013 at Peel Full Gospel Church in Peel with Bro. Kevin Rogers officiating.

Interment will follow at Peel Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Greg Criner, Howard Farmer, Kenny Saylors, Dustin Burleson, Ty Lively, and Don Mahler.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sarah and BreeAnna Farmer, Jon, Val, and Dalton Melton, Dr. Bob Ahrens, Cindy Collins, Derek and Dylan Hutcheson, Dawson and Delsie Lively, and Members of the 1968 Pyatt Basketball Team.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House, 701 Burnett Dr., Mountain Home, AR 72653 or to Peel Cemetery c/o Fred Austin.
