Thatta "Bobbie" Janice Harris, age 85, of Sheridan passed away Thursday, January 2, 2014. She was born September 11, 1928 in Sheridan, the daughter of the late Martin Crutchfield and Lena Stucky Crutchfield. Ms. Harris attended Bethany #1 Missionary Baptist Church in Grapevine and Ephesus Missionary Baptist Church near Sheridan. She loved fishing and spending time with her family. Ms. Harris was married to the love of her life for sixty-five years, Carthel Lee Harris. Other than her parents, Ms. Harris is preceded in death by her sister, Maxine Brassell; husband, Carthal Lee Harris; and son, Calvin Harris.
Ms. Harris is survived by her loving daughter, Frieda Axsom and husband, Sonny of Sheridan; granddaughters, Janice Booth, Marguerette Powery, and Jamie Westbrook; great-grandchildren, Desa'Ray Kirby, Bo Booth, Shelton Booth, Morgan Smith, Andrew Westbrook, Matthew Westbrook, Troy Powery, David Powery, Owen Powery, Chelsea Powery, and T.J. Magness; and great-great-grandchildren, Tristen Smith, Levi Smith, Trent Magness, Jaci Magness, and Courtney Smith. She is also survived by a host family and friends that will miss her dearly.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Buie Funeral Home in Sheridan. Funeral services are 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Buie Funeral Home Sheridan with Brother Tim Lankford officiating. Interment will follow at Ephesus Cemetery near Sheridan.
