Lorena Henrietta Brooks Crow of Boerne, Texas, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at 94 years of age. She was born June 3, 1914 in Moore, Texas. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Glenn Cagle Crow, and her daughter, Glenda Lorena Crow. At an early age Lorena moved with her family to San Antonio, where she was employed at Joske's department store. She worked in the hosiery department and also modeled shoes. It was there she met her future husband, Glenn. They married on Christmas day in 1941. When the United States entered WWII, Lorena and Glenn moved to Fayetteville, NC, where Glenn and his brother ran a laundry and dry cleaning plant at Fort Bragg. Their daughter Glenda was born on December 31, 1942. After the war they moved back to San Antonio. From the mid-1940s to the mid-1970s Lorena and Glenn owned and operated a successful business, Fashion Laundry and Dry Cleaning. During their marriage they shared a love for the outdoors, and had a summer home at Copano Bay near Rockport, Texas. In 1974 they retired to the beautiful Texas Hill Country, settling in Boerne. After Glenn's death in 2006, Lorena moved to the Ft. Worth area with her granddaughter, Melissa, where she lived until her death. Lorena loved nature and the outdoors and could name every flower, tree, and animal in her Hill Country environs. Her peaceful, happy disposition was a perfect complement to the natural surroundings. She indulged a passion for shopping and dining out with her sister Peggy and her dear friend Marie Seibert. Lorena was one of five siblings. She was preceded in death by her brothers Ollie and Rufus, and by her sisters Peggy and Margie and mother, Cora. She is survived by daughter Billie Marvin and husband Earl; nephews Allan Goyette, Marshall Goyette and wife Irma, Frank Ballard and wife Maureen; niece Shirley Strother; grandnieces Lu Ann Sorensen, Faye Lynn Marvel, Jo Nell Strother; granddaughters Melissa Neal, Vicke Marvin King and husband Wesley; grandson Glenn Neal; great granddaughters Rebekah Lyn King and Elizabeth Grace King; and many other beloved nieces and nephews.
