From an article in a local paper about his retirement, it reports that he had only three jobs in his life. He worked in Philadelphia and Wilmington, DE before moving to Ossining where started employment for New York Telephone on Main Street in Ossining. It also says in his early days he was a resident of Sparta and spent time with Carl Vanderhoof and his wife who conducted a general store in the hamlet. Lysander may be related to the Vanderhoof's but no family connection has yet been confirmed. His death notice from the Citizen Register 7 Feb 1940 says he was 83, lived at the Wolden Arms Apartment, died last night. He was a native of NYC and lived in Ossining for about thirty years. Survived by his wife Mary, four children, Cushing of Baltimore, Harry of Wilmington, DE, Mrs. Frances Schrope Sr of Dresher, PA and Miss Olive Barnhill of Ossining. (Olive Barnhill was his step-daughter).
