SPRINGFIELD-Dr. Luther M. Allen, 87, former surgeon for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, died yesterday at the home of his son, J. Collins Allen, 148 Broadview rd., here.
Dr. Allen, who graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Medical School in 1893, formerly practiced medicine at 3100 Wharton st., Philadelphia. He became associated with the railroad 50 years ago and retired from active practice in 1930.
During his active career he was a member of the Philadelphia County Medical Society and the American Medical Association. He was born in New Jersey.
Survivors, in addition to the son, who is executive vice president of the Collingdale Federal Savings Association, include a daughter, Mrs. Dorothea A. Sanzenbacher of Cody, Wyo., four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Bowen & Sons funeral home, 50th and Catharine sts., Philadelphia, with burial in Woodland (sic) Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday evening at the funeral home."
