MUNCIE - Maxine Kinnett, 95, died peacefully Tuesday afternoon, December 31, 2013 at I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 18, 1918, in Font Hill, Kentucky, the daughter of James W. and Sibina Pearl (Roy) Swanson. She met her future husband, Lucian, at a revival meeting in 1935. They were married on February 18, 1936, and were faithfully devoted to each other for seventy-three years until his death in 2008.

Maxine's primary devotion was to her Lord and to her family. She was a loving and helpmate to her husband and a constant source of love and support for her family. She was not only a mother and housewife, but also worked as a produce manager for National Stores in Michigan, Eavey's Grocery Store, and Carter's Grocery. In the summer, her pride and joy was her garden. During winter months, she loved to knit and to crochet, but her passion was for quilting beautiful quilts by hand. She was a member of Industry United Methodist Church.

Maxine is survived by her daughter, Gloria M. Raines, Muncie; sons, Joe D. Kinnett (Linda), Selma, and J. Gregory Kinnett, M.D. (Anne), New Orleans, LA; eight grandchildren, Shane, Troye, Seth, Brandon, Cameron, Ashley, Morgan, and Chandler; eight great-grandchildren, Dean, Adam, Alison, Dana, Sam, Madison, Sidney, and Beatrice Anne; and one great-great-grandchild, Liam David.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lucian Kinnett; her parents; four siblings, and one grandchild, Brent.

Her love, support, and smile will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2014 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, with Dr. John Hackney officiating. Entombment will follow in Gardens of Memory Mausoleum.

Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2014 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel.
