Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer, Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois, Tuesday, September 20, 1966, page 9:
   Edward F. Abenbrink of 901 N. Main St., a retired carpenter, died of a heart attack Monday afternoon at 4:30 in Tuscola at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Edna) Kresin. He was 80 years old.
   Mr. Abenbrink had been hospitalized in the Jarman Hospital at Tuscola from June 15 until Sept. 7, after which he lived with his daughter. He had visited Sunday in Edwardsville, and had attended services at Eden United Church of Christ.
   Born Dec. 2, 1885 in Edwardsville, he was the son of the late Edward F. and Mary Hansre Abenbrink. He married Gesina Oben on July 22, 1913 at Alton.  Mrs. Abenbrink died last Aug. 16.
   Surviving in addition to the daughter are three granddaughters, Suellen, Margaret Jo and Sally Kresin. One brother died in infancy.
   Mr. Abenbrink, who retired seven years ago, had assisted in constructing many public buildings in and around Edwardsville. He was a member of Eden United Church of Christ and a past president of the Brotherhood. He was a member of the Shut-In Club, Land of Goshen Historical Society and Carpenters Local 378.  Mr. Abenbrink had received a 50-year membership pin from Local 378 a number of years ago.
   Visitation will be at Weber Funeral Home from 7 o'clock tonight until 11 a.m. Thursday when the body will be taken to Eden Church for services at 2 p.m.  Officiating will be the Rev. Robert O. Laaser and the Rev. Donald L. Crismon. Burial will be in Valley View Gardens of Memory. Memorials may be given to the Eden Church memorial fund.

Pallbearers were Ferd Rohrkaste, Clarence Heinrich, George and Earl Hanser, Orville West and Albert Strickland. Acting as honorary pallbearers were Charles Sido, Al Kunze, Melvin Suhre, Edgar Dresch, Ernest Werner, Virgil Mindrup and Dr. C.L. Brockmeier.
