Lawrence was born January 17, 1926, to John and Anna (Flanigan) Knebler in Schulte, Kansas. He married Mary Alley on July 8, 1946, in Wichita. She preceded him in death on April 27, 1965. He married Linda Kay (Taylor) Bartel on April 11, 1969, in Augusta. Kansas. Tubby owned and operated Knebler Construction, Knebler Concrete, and Knebler Rock Company. He built homes and was a paving and excavating contractor.
His survivors include his wife, Linda of the home; daughter, Jane and her husband Rick Heise; daughter-in-law, Vickie Knebler all of Augusta; step-children, Rick Bartel of Towanda and Cristy Rivers of Celebration, Florida; grandchildren, Mary (Robin) Smith, John (Ann) Heise, Susan (Brian) Smith, Dan (Alleah) Heise, Amber (Alan) Henman, Bret (Brittney) Bartel, Adam (Kristen) Knebler, Sara (Chris) Parsons Cowley, Brandon (Kendra) Bartel, Rachel Parsons and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mary; son William "Bill" Knebler; brothers, Johnny, Leo and Dick Knebler; sisters, Marie Stockman and Irene Morrison.
A rosary will be Sunday, January 5, at 3:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, January 6, at 10:00 a.m. both at St. James Catholic Church with Father Michael Schemm officiating. Interment to follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established with St. James Catholic Church Building Fund, 1010 Belmont, Augusta, Kansas 67010.
