Raymond D. Pitcher, age 89 of Connersville, passed away on Wednesday January 1, 2014 at Carolton Manor Nursing Home.

Born on March 26, 1924 in Connersville, he is the son of the late Parker D. and Garnet Burton Pitcher.

Raymond served in the US Navy during WWII serving on the submarine USS Cabrilla. He served with the Submarine Division, #121 Relief Crew, and received the American Area Theater Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Medal, the Sub Combat Insignia, Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal.

He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.

He retired in March 1989 from Stant Manufacturing after 43 years of service.

He enjoyed working with his hands, woodworking, playing horseshoes and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed being active in the church.

He is survived by his sons, Marvin D. & Connie Pitcher of Connersville and Anthony L. Pitcher of Indianapolis; step children, Lisa & Kenny Herrell of Connersville, Georgia & Leon Gentry of Connersville and Gary S. Brown of Connersville; a daughter in law, Rose Pitcher of Connersville; a brother, Richard L. Pitcher of Connersville; a sister Marjorie Noble of Palm Harbor, Fl; five grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Reeve Pitcher, whom he married in 1945 and she died in 1976; his second wife, Della Cheek Brown Pitcher whom he married in 1981 and she died in 2003.

He is also preceded in death by a son, James R. Pitcher in 2012; and two brothers, Robert W. Pitcher and Clinton Amyx.

Burial with graveside Military Services will follow at Laurel North Cemetery.
