A memorial service for Ouida Claire Thurman Smith Raulins will be held Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Hebron Baptist Church, 4795 Vimville Causeyville Road. Mrs. Raulins, 89, was born July 20, 1924, in Meridian where she resided until her death December 24, 2013.

Mrs. Raulins, a long time resident of the Vimville Community, devoted her life to her family, community and church. She had a very special gift of love and hospitality and always greeted everyone who passed her way with a warm and beautiful smile that was sure to lift their spirit. Her heart and her home were always open to everyone regardless of nationality, race, color, or creed. After raising her two sons, she went to work in the medical office of Dr. Ray Stoddard where she greeted and assisted patients for 25 years with her special warmth and concern. She was a member of Hebron Baptist Church where she served her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in numerous ways for 70 years.

She is survived by her son, Dr. James Thurman Smith and wife, Sherry of Cody, Wyoming; brother, Fred Thurman of Dallas; granddaughters, Dr. Stephanie Claire Phelps and husband, Dr. David Phelps of Fort Worth, and Jennifer Louisa Smith Pies and husband, Grant of Lakewood Ranch, Florida; and by her great grandchildren, Ethan Phelps and Caroline Phelps.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, James R. (Billy) Smith after 31 years of marriage; her second husband, Jewel W. Raulins after 35 years of marriage; son, Jerry L. Smith; parents, Judson L. Thurman and Susie (Helen) Thurman Williamson; and siblings, Adelia ‘Pete' Thomas, Marie Heblon, James Emmitt Thurman , and Albert Judson Thurman.
