HERBERT C. GREENE
The funeral of Herbert C. Greene, 75, a retired West Rupert farmer, who died Saturday at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Albany, N.Y., will be held Tuesday at 2 pm at the McClellan Funeral Home in Salem, N.Y., with the Rev. Catherine Soiffelle, minister of the Rupert Congregational Church, officiating. Burial in the spring will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Pawlet.
He was born Sept 17, 1898, in Middletown Springs, a son of Hollis Greene and Mrs. Ida Greene. He was a veteran of World War I and belonged to Salem American Legion Post 812 and the Greenwich, N.Y., Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his widow, Nettie; three sons, Paul of West Pawlet, Ralph of Comstock, N.Y., and Nelson of Hebron, N.Y.; three daughters, Mrs. Paul McWayne of Dorset; Mrs. George McHale of Albany, N.Y., and Mrs. Howard Brophy of Largo, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Grace Brown of Texas; a half-sister, Mrs. Clyde Trombly of Wells; two brothers, Clifford of Lebanon, N.H., a brother, Albert of Salem; 14 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours at the funeral home are today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salem Rescue Squad.
