A farmer of pious and good character. He married Betsey Dean in Londonderry, New Hampshire on October 24, 1798 and they had nine children there. The family moved to Warsaw, New York via the Erie Canal in 1834 or 1835 (sources differ), where he bought the Samuel McWhorter farm on the south side of the village. He was a member and a deacon of the Presbyterian church for many years. He died age 69 years.
