Born to Albertus J. and Myrtle L. Marshall Lewis, Bertie married William E. Shaw on Sept. 27, 1927, in Peoria. He died June 28, 1961, in Peoria.
Surviving are one son, Dale A. of Peoria; two half brothers, Lyle Lewis of St. Louis and Frank Lewis; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She worked for Hills Glove Factory and later worked as a seamstress for Peoria State Hospital, retiring in 1975. She was a past member of Order of Eastern Star.
Cremation rites have been accorded and burial of ashes will be in Parkview Cemetery.
