Claudine married Elvin Bailey on April 28, 1943. They established their home on the family farm east of Wann, while also living in several states as Elvin worked as a pipefitter/welder for many years. Elvin preceded her in death on August 5, 2009.
Claudine was a member of the Wann Baptist Church, where she taught children's Sunday School classes for nearly 40 years. She worked for the Nowata County Election Board for about 25 years until she gave up her position at age 89. Claudine loved to make her beautiful crocheted rugs, quilts, and blackberry cobblers for her family, whom she treasured.
She is survived by her children: Lynn (Judy) Bailey, Judy (Mike) Wood, Mary Ellen (Wally) Johnson, Donna (Joe) Hoffman, and David (Brinda) Bailey; 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, her brothers, Junior King and Ted King of Lenapah and many special nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her husband, Claudine was preceded in death by her brothers, Clyde King, Jack King, Dewayne King, and Jerry King and her sisters, Grace Hendrickson, Elizabeth Keys, and Doris Thompson.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 3, at 2:00 p.m. at the Wann Baptist Church with Pastor Jim McColloch, Th.D. officiating. Interment will follow at Wann Cemetery. Family visitation is scheduled for 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 2, at the Benjamin Funeral Home in Nowata, OK. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
