Ruth Boddeker Van Zandt

FORT WORTH, Texas - Ruth Boddeker Van Zandt, 83, passed away March 2, 1999, in Fort Worth. Private services at the graveside 3:00 p.m., Friday in Galveston Memorial Park, Hitchcock, Texas. The family will receive friends in The Williamsburg Room of Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home from 7:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m., Thursday.

Ruth Boddeker Van Zandt was a resident of Forth Worth since 1940. She was a member of St. Patrick Cathedral and past president of St. Patrick Altar Guild. She has served on the Woman's Board of the Fort Worth Children's Hospital, now Cook Children's Medical Center, since 1947. She is now a sustaining member on the board.

She is past president of the Fort Worth Garden Club, past president of the Medical Auxiliary to the Fort Worth Medical Society, now known as Medical Alliance. She also served as secretary to the Medical Auxiliary to the Texas State Medical Society. She is past president of the Parent- Teachers Association of Arlington Heights High School, charter member of the Jewel Charity Ball and a member of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of Texas. She is also a member of the Fort Worth Woman's Club, Friday Lecture Club and past
member of Thursday Study Club.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Sally.

Survivors are her children, Genie Van Zandt Byrd and her
husband, James H. Byrd, Houston, Neil Van Zandt and his
wife, Cheryl, Ft. Worth; grandchildren, Barrett and Hunter Van Zandt; sister, Dorris Fuchs and her husband, Carl, Texas City; nieces and nephews; longtime friend, Joe R. DeGrazier and friend and caregiver, Juanita Combs.
