Clayborne Paul Ellis, born on May 1, 1928 in Bracken County, KY, passed away on December 27, 2013 in Schertz, TX, at the age of 85. Clayborne was the fourth child of Dillard T. and Hilda Marie (Guy) Ellis. Sadly, their first child died in infancy. That left Edna, Kenneth and Clayborne. Within a few years Clayborne had a new best bud and co-conspirer in mischief, his baby brother Eugene. All attended Augusta, KY public school, but Clayborne dropped out in the ninth grade, to go to work to help with the family finances. He joined the US Navy at the age of 16 to see the world. After his 4 year hitch was up, he left the Navy to try civilian life again. After 2 years he decided he preferred the military life and joined the US Air Force. His first duty station was Tinker AF Base near Oklahoma City, OK where he met and married the former Betty Ruth Park. To this union were born 2 children Kevin and Paula. Clayborne was a hard worker and always had a second job besides the Air Force. When he retired from the Air Force with a total of 21 years of military service, he was already established with Riedel's Inc., where he worked quite a few more years before retiring for good. Even after retiring, he was known around the neighborhood as Mr-fix-it. Clayborne is survived by his wife of 58 years Betty, his son Kevin Ellis of Round Rock, and daughter Paula Walls of Risco, MO, also 5 grandchildren and one great- grandchild. Visitaion will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2014 from 10:00am to 12:30pm with a service to be conducted at 1:00pm. Interment will take place at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
