Gertrude B. Wehling, 88, passed away peacefully December 27, 2013.
She married William R. Wehling on October 14th, 1944. They raised their four children on the family farm in Isabel, Kansas. Gertrude and Bill moved to Colorado Springs in 1972 where they owned and operated Wehling Texturing. In her later years, Gertrude was a caregiver.
Gertrude was a member of the Elks Lodge #309 Wives Club, VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Lorraine Post 98 Auxiliary. Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband Bill, a son, and grandson Bryan.
She is survived by her sons Richard Laile Wehling, Robert Lynn Wehling (Kathy), daughters Nancy Lorraine Herbel (Hal) and Kathryn Jane Brooks (Bernie), 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and siblings Jerry Oller, Lynette Chick, and Ellen Jean Hanson.
A celebration of life was held at Swan Lawn Mortuary on Monday, December 30th. Graveside service will be January 1st, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Isabel Cemetery, Isabel, Kansas. Memorials may be made to the American Legion Lorraine Post 98 at 201 N. Main, Isabel, Kansas 67065.
