Annie was the eighth of at least 11 children of Harry Dodgson (1860-1905) and Sarah Jane nee Turner (1860-1929). She married Edward Hulme in Stockport in 1915. They had six children; Mary (1916-1917), Edward "Ted", Philip (1920-2012), Marjorie (1924-2008), Alan (1927-2004) and Annie "Nan" (1932-2011). She divorced Edward and came to Australia with her daughter Nan in 1951 on the ship Orontes out of Southampton. In Melbourne, she married Fred Senior but they did not have any children.
