She was always known by her nickname, "Katie," and rarely by her actual name of Anna Katharine. She was the daughter of Charles Dixon and Henrietta Lucille Barnes, who separated, then divorced when she was about six years of age. Her mother then married Robert Millington, Sr. She was educated in a Catholic orphanage school in Columbus, Ohio, until age 13, and then in Columbus area Lutheran parochial schools. She was a beautiful girl and young lady. She was a talented cook and baker, as well as able to produce some exceptionally fine knitting and crochet work. She and Carl were married for over 61 years. She was a mother of six children: 2 daughters and four sons. She was peaceable, loving, calm, and an unassuming wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, never known to raise her voice.
